Biography

Angela Wanjiku Wamai studied film in Havana, Cuba, and works as a film editor in Nairobi. She was recently awarded Best Film Editor at the Women in Film Awards Kenya. Her short films also won awards at the International Female Film Festival Malmö (IFEMA) and at the International Short Film Festival in Clermont-Ferrand. Although she devotes her attention to hurt and pain, it is always accompanied by her sense of humour. Angela Wanjiku Wamai continues to edit films and tries to find her place between the director's chair and the monitor. SHIMONI, her feature film debut, won awards at several major festivals, including the Étalon de Bronze at the FESPACO 2023 and 1st prize at the Luxor African Film Festival.
