Biography

After the FESPACO 2013 in Ouagadougou, FilmInitiativ team members travelled across the border into Ghana to visit the NAFTI film school and meet filmmakers there. While in Accra, they also met Kwamina Gilbert Yanney. He is the director of the Ghanaian film company Flamboyant Damsel Films Ltd, with which he produced the OLD SIMPSON SERIES for television. Margaret Sampson is responsible for editing and graphic design at Flamboyant Films, and Ali Lawani is in charge of costume design. All three are coming to Cologne at their own initiative, to get to know the festival even though they are not officially presenting any of their own films during the programme. FilmInitiativ is taking the opportunity to discuss with them the status and development of the Ghanaian film industry as part of the FOCUS GHANA programme.
