Hassam Ghancy

Biography

Hassam Ghancy was born in Morocco and had his acting debut at the “Cithéâtre” amateur theatre in a Parisian banlieue. After studying acting at “Théâtre-Ecole du Passage”, he gained professional experience by working with directors John Berry, Jack Garfein and Sergei Semstov. He has taken up theatre roles in pieces by Brecht, Shakespeare, Chekhov and Kafka and performed in a number of US films, such as RENDITION by Gavin Hood, TREASON by Jeffrey Nachmanoff, and JACK RYAN by Patricia Riggen, as well as European films such as THE BAADER MEINHOF COMPLEX by Uli Edel. Staff members of FilmInitiativ first met the Moroccan-French actor at the Cinémas d’Afrique festival in the French town of Apt and invited him to Cologne to present three short films in which he plays the main role.
