Biography

Nantenaina Fifaliana is a Malagasy cinematographer, documentary filmmaker, and photographer, born in 1991. Self-taught, he entered the film industry in Madagascar as a technician at the early age of 17, and worked on most of director Lova Nantenaina’s projects. Alongside this, he developed a passion for photography, with a particular focus on black and white, which he considers a privileged language for portraying humanity with sobriety and emotion. CHER ANCÊTRE, directed by Lova Nantenaina and selected notably at Visions du Réel and the Durban International Film Festival, is the latest feature-length documentary he contributed to.
