Biography

Myriam U. Birara is a filmmaker and artist. She was born in Rwanda in 1992 and has a Bachelor's degree in Finance. Myriam first got into filmmaking in 2010 when she attended her first film workshop.  Seven years passed before she directed three short films, including the highly acclaimed IMUHIRA (2021). In February 2023, Myriam's first feature film THE BRIDE premiered at the Berlinale and won the SPECIAL MENTION of the GWFF BEST FIRST FEATURE AWARD JURY. Other awards: SILVER LADY HARIMAGUADA Award, CIMA Award at the International Film Festival Las Palmas De Gran Canaria.
