Abstract

Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe. The former French colony that has become an overseas department, the city is undergoing rapid urban renewal. At the heart of this upheaval, residents tell the story of Guadeloupe and the inertia of this island. For five years, director Malaury Eloi Paisley roamed this labyrinthine city and filmed her relationships with its inhabitants. Through their eyes, she explores the collective memory of an area where time seems to stand still. L'HOMME-VERTIGE: TALES OF A CITY celebrated its world premiere at the Forum of the Berlinale 2024 and won the Étalon d'or de Yennenga documentaire at FESPACO 2025.
