Abstract

ISTISLAM is a film about submission in love, faith and politics. The Muslim Brotherhood is longing for power in Egypt. What  does it preach? How does it operate? What does it demand? Mona El Naggar follows the lives of young men and women as they learn about sex, marriage and gender roles at a Brotherhood charity. The filmmaker examines the Muslim Brotherhood’s  rassroots work and influence, especially among Egyptian youth, and the group’s prevailing patriarchal attitude towards women.
