Abstract

Hospuedes da noite is an award-winning documentary by author and director LicinioAzevedo about Beira’s Grand Hotel, which was built during the Portuguese colonial era. With its 350 rooms, luxury suites and an Olympic-sized swimming pool it was the biggest of its kind in Mozambique. Nowadays, the building is in ruins with no electricity or running water and is inhabited by 3500 people. Some have been living here for twenty years...
