Abstract

In Sofia Alaoui's science fiction drama, Itto, a young woman from humble rural origins, slowly adapts to the privileged Moroccan ways of her husband's family. When a supernatural event unexpectedly separates her from her husband and in-laws, she embarks on a hearteningly lonely odyssey through the fractured country. ANIMALIA is a thought-provoking film about not taking what we already have for granted, as everything can change in a second. ANIMALIA had its official world premiere at the Sundance Festival 2023.
