Abstract
AIMÉ CÉSAIRE, UN HOMME UNE TERRE paints a portrait of the poet, politician and one of the founders of the Négritude movement, rooted in his native Martinique. In a long interview conducted by Sarah Maldoror, Césaire talks about the north of the island, his relationship with poetry – notably Notebook of a Return to the Native Land and The Tragedy of King Christophe – and the issue of uprooting. He also strongly denounces the colonial status of Martinique.
